Why Erik Ten Hag Must Be Blamed For Failure to Sign Darwin Nunez.

Manchester United are in the transfer window to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2022/23 season. The Red Devils were able to appoint a new manager who will take the club back to its glory days. Although the fans have been backing him since his arrival, but it currently seems the Dutchman is beginning to make the same mistakes other former Manchester United managers made in the past.

The Red Devils needed a young striker who will serve as a long-term replacement for Edinson Cavani. The club is in for a number 9, but they needed to do away with the old players in that position, and Cristiano Ronaldo is one of them.

The Portuguese claimed Edinson Cavani's number 7 jersey immediately after he signed for the Red Devils, not only taking his jersey but also taking his position as the club's first-choice striker, despite promising Cavani regular game time in his second contract.

I believe that this is the reason why Cavani's fellow countryman, Darwin Nunez was reluctant to force a move to Manchester United despite his love for the club, with the fear of playing as a backup striker for Cristiano Ronaldo something to worry about.

Before the arrival of Ten Hag, many thought that the manager will also do away with Cristiano Ronaldo or make it openly known that he won't be a regular, but instead, he welcomed him with a potential captain armband.

However, it will be hard for Manchester United to get a young striker in the summer if Erik Ten Hag doesn't clear Ronaldo's stance. Ten Hag should come out open and make it known that Ronaldo won't be his first choice but rather a backup for the new striker. Unless he does that, I don't think a young striker will be willing to lock horns with Cristiano Ronaldo.
