Manchester United are expected to make some significant changes to their squad this summer, as their squad is in need of a rebuild, having failed to win any silverware for the past five seasons.
The red devils new manager Erik Ten Hag would hope that he would be the manager that would restore the glory days back to the club, with the backing of the club's board to sign the players he requested for in this transfer window.
With a lot of top players been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, reports claims that Erik Ten Hag has already given the greenlight for the club to bring in some specific players that he would like to work with at the club next season.
In this article, we will be writing on why Manchester United could be closer to their first summer signing.
1. Direct Talks To Sign Frenkie De Jong Has Commence
Frenkie de Jong is one of the Manchester United primary targets this summer, as Erik Ten Hag is believed to be pushing for the signing of the midfieder, having worked with him previously in Ajax.
United would be desperately in need of signing a central midfieder in this transfer market, with Paul Pogba, and Nemanja Matic set to leave the club this summer.
Although, no agreement has been reached between both clubs, but talks have already began, and it could be a matter of a little time before the negotiation for the transfer of Frenkie de Jong is completed between Barcelona and Manchester United, making him possibly their first signing of the summer.
Do you think Frenkie de Jong would suit Manchester United and the Premier League?
